RICHARD HUEMER, M.D. received his B.A. from Pomona College and
his M.D. from UCLA. After internship followed by service in the U.S.
Army Medical Corps, he did postdoctoral work in Cancer Immunology at
CalTech, and subsequently headed research projects in Aging and Cancer
Immunology at the Sepulveda V.A. Hospital, all in California.
Upon entering private practice, he learned about Nutritional Therapies
from his associate in practice and soon thereafter became associated
with Joseph Walters, M.D., one of the early pioneers in Nutritional
Medicine. He then maintained offices in Westlake Village and Thousand
Oaks, California until moving to Vancouver, Washington in 1990. He returned
8 years later to California, where he practiced in the Antelope Valley
until his recent retirement.
Dr. Huemers published books include Roots of Molecular Medicine:
A Tribute to Linus Pauling and with co-author Jack Challem The
Natural Health Guide to Beating the Supergerms. Although he has
written and lectured extensively on Alternative Medicine, and has served
on the editorial boards of professional journals, he is probably best
known for his Your Health columns, which have appeared under
various headings in Lets Live magazine for close to 20 years.
Dr. Huemer is not completely retired as he maintains an internet Consulting
Practice online at www.huemer.yourmd.com. He spends the rest of his
time writing articles, attending meetings, traveling to vacation spots
and working as a member of the Los Angeles County Task Force on Nutrition,
which is advisory to the L.A. Board of Supervisors.
Dr. Huemer has been interested in Alternative Cancer Treatments ever
since doing a series of reports about them for Pacifica Radio in the
1970s. He will speak on nutritional supplements of various kinds such
as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids and many kinds of phytochemicals
that protect the human body against cancer.
