| MICHAEL SCHACHTER, M.D., C.N.S. graduated magna
cum laude from Columbia College and earned his Medical Degree from Columbia
University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1965. He received
3 years of Psychiatric training at the Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn,
New York and was Board Certified in Psychiatry in 1971.
In 1974, along with the late Dr. David Sheinkin, he established one
of the first nutritionally oriented Orthomolecular, Holistic Medical
Practices in New York State in Nyack, New York. In 1991, Dr. Schachter
moved his office to Suffern, New York where it now occupies 6,000 square
feet, has 25 employees and is known as the Schachter Center for Complementary
Medicine.
Dr. Schachter served as Vice President of the Academy of Orthomolecular
Psychiatry (AOP), President of the American College for Advancement
in Medicine (ACAM, formerly AAMP) and has achieved the status of Advanced
Proficiency in Chelation Therapy from this organization. He has also
been President of the Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine
(FAIM).
Dr. Schachter has worked extensively with cancer patients utilizing
Alternative Therapies since 1975. He’s familiar with a wide range
of Alternative Therapeutic Modalities and has incorporated several of
them into his daily work with cancer patients. These have included dietary
suggestions, high dose intravenous infusions of Vitamin C, Enzyme Therapy,
Amygdalin or Laetrile Therapy, various Immune Enhancing Methods, Hydrazine
Sulfate, Herbs, Homeopathy, Methods of Detoxification, and Psychosocial
Modalities, including Visualization. Most recently, he has introduced
the work of the late Molecular Biologist Mirko Beljanski, Ph.D. to physicians
in the United States. Dr. Beljanski has made significant contributions
to the understanding of cancer and has developed products that may be
extremely beneficial to cancer patients.
Dr. Schachter wrote the introduction to the book The Cancer Survivors
by Judith Glassman and his methods and views are discussed in Nancy
Bruning’s book Coping with Chemotherapy. He is the author
of A Natural Way to a Healthy Prostate, and was also a major
contributor to the book Burton Goldberg Presents An Alternative
Medicine Definitive Guide to Cancer.
